Second grade students concluded their science unit on bees with a STEM activity. During the activity students worked in small groups to make a flower out of paper and tape that stood at least 6 inches tall. The flower also had to be strong enough to hold a bee (a math cube) and remain standing for a period of time.
The STEM approach to education fosters creativity and innovation through inquiry-based assignments. These assignments and activities encourage learners to problem solve and embrace mistakes in a risk-free environment. STEM activities help students develop the proper mindset and necessary skills to tackle real-world challenges.
