St. Mary Parish School is proud to announce that Beth Hartwig, 5-year-old kindergarten teacher, has been named a recipient of the Herb Kohl Educational Foundation 2025 Teaching Fellowship Award, a prestigious recognition that celebrates excellence in teaching and dedication to student achievement.

The Herb Kohl Educational Foundation Fellowship recognizes educators who have demonstrated a superior ability to inspire a love of learning in their students, ability to motivate others and for their leadership and service within and outside the classroom. Hartwig is among a select group of Wisconsin educators to receive this honor in 2025.

“Mrs. Hartwig’s selection affirms her remarkable leadership, her role as a catalyst for positive change, and her outstanding ability to foster a lifelong love of learning in her students,” said Annemarie Wood, principal of St. Mary Parish School. “As both a creative educator and a spiritual mentor, she truly reflects our mission of forming Catholic role models who serve with compassion, conviction, and purpose.”

With over 17 years of experience in the classroom, Hartwig has become known for her innovative approach to teaching, warm and welcoming classroom environment, and strong connections with students and families.

The Teaching Fellowship includes a $6,000 personal award and a matching $6,000 grant to the school, intended to support educational programs or projects. The award is part of the Herb Kohl Educational Foundation’s long standing commitment to excellence in Wisconsin education.

Hartwig is one of four educators at St. Mary Parish School to receive this honor. Previous recipients include Principal Wood, Director of Teaching and Learning Erika Mogilevsky, and 3rd grade teacher Sarah Kleinman.

“It’s a testament to the high quality educators that we have in our school and a reminder of how truly blessed we are as a parish community,” said Msgr. Ross Shecterle, St. Mary Parish Pastor.
