Introducing students to microbiology can be fascinating and informative. In a recent lesson, we explored the world of bacteria and how they can interact with our health. By drawing cells to be 20,000 times their actual size, students were able to better understand their structure. We then examined cells from an onion, lettuce, and our own inner cheek using microscopes. Through the process, the 6th graders gained valuable experience in preparing slides for microscopic examination.
